Malawi is a small, narrow country, wedged between Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique, and bordered on its eastern flank by Lake Malawi.
The vast majority of the population lives in the rural areas, earning their living from the land.

Hope for Africa Mission site is located at Maseya, a village in the section called Hope village (so called Hope because there is a children’s home started by Americans also called Hope project but not directly related to HfA) in Chikwawa district 60 km south of Blantyre region.
The size of the mission camp is 100 by 100 meters with a house of the local pastor and a big church building, which is 20mX10m, which also serves as a community center.
The work started in 2002, when drought and later floods, which left the community devastated with food shortage and starvation, struck this community. We moved in with food supplies and started some ‘food for work’ projects, which were aimed at relieving the community of starvation.
The local authorities gave us the land and we pitched a tent and started our activities on that piece of land. Later the building was built using the same method of ‘food for work’ program.
This region has got its own ‘regional mission board’ and coordinator reporting directly to the international board of Hope for Africa Mission and to the ‘mission director’.

Projects completed
- Access road construction - The construction of access road to the agricultural fields was done using a ‘food for work’ program, which enabled it to be completed in 2003.
- Church building/ community centre - This is now complete and used for various community activities.
Projects in progress
- The food relief project comes and goes according to the need of the community, as this is a disaster prone region.
- Church planting, church branches coordination is an on going process.
- The mission site is in continual development; e.g. building toilets, putting fencing around the camp, drilling boreholes for water, general sanitation issues.
- Farming programs including training and development of farming skills,
- Leadership training, which is both Bible based and secular, equipping the whole person.
